 Electric Vehicles and Transportation

How will electric vehicles be used in transportation?

Electric vehicles, which have become widespread in automobile use today, are expected to enter the transportation sector in the near future. One of the closest studies known on this subject has been Tesla company's vehicle called Tesla Semi. While more than one version of the Tesla Semi is expected to be released, it has been stated that these versions will have a range of between 300 and 500 miles. In this respect, the issue of how to solve the battery problem of electric vehicles over long distances has also become a question mark. It is stated that with the mega stations to be created in the project of the Tesla company, it is possible to recharge with 1000 kilowatts in 1 hour. Of course, there are also problematic scenarios in this case. If the waiting time at the stations is like 1 hour, it will be possible to form a queue for refueling at the station. In this respect, it may be preferable to use electric vehicles at short distances at first.

ITU and Borusan Lojistik, which closely follow the developments regarding electric trucks in Turkey, have taken the necessary steps to eliminate the deficiencies in this sector and to ensure that electric vehicles become widespread in the future. For example, with the electric vehicle platform project, they aim to gradually integrate electric vehicles into fleets in Turkey. However, the problem mentioned here is how to integrate these vehicles into long-distance transport. Accordingly, Borusan Logistics R&D Deputy General Manager Anıl GÜL stated in an interview that it is possible to use electric vehicles for local transportation, and that they can be preferred in the inbound logistics phase.
