Filyos project: A Logistics Base for the Western Black Sea.

The infrastructure works of the Filyos Project, which may be the new export point for the Western Black Sea and Central Anatolia, have come to an end.

The construction of the Filyos Project, which started in 2016, is very close to completing its infrastructure works as of today. The Filyos Port project, which will be the third largest port in the country, in Çaycuma district, is waiting for the day it will be put into service with a cargo carrying capacity of 25 million tons per year. The port is expected to become the new cargo exit point for the Western Black Sea and Central Anatolia with its 3 thousand meters of dock length and 19 meters of dock depth. The port, whose importance has increased after the discovery of natural gas reserves in the Black Sea, also has the potential to become a logistics center. As a matter of fact, with the Filyos Industrial Zone Junction Line Connection Project, 12 kilometers of railway and 4.5 kilometers of highway will be laid in the region. In its final form, the project is expected to contribute greatly to employment in the region. There are also discussions on projects to be carried out to attract qualified personnel to the region. The port will also create an advantage in terms of the export of Zonguldak coal mines. With this project, an important step will be taken towards becoming a logistics base between Europe, Asia and Africa.
