The €7 million “Green Economy Transition Project”, supported by the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Türkiye, has officially been launched. The three-year initiative aims to reduce the carbon and water footprint of key export-oriented sectors, including ready-to-wear apparel, textiles, chemicals, and logistics.
According to the statement by the Istanbul Ready-Made Garment and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İHKİB), the project brings together stakeholders across the supply chain to enhance sustainability and strengthen sectoral cooperation.
Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and İHKİB, emphasized that this initiative represents one of the most comprehensive transformation efforts implemented in Türkiye. He highlighted the importance of the project’s focus on the “twin transition”—integrating green and digital transformation—to boost the competitiveness of Turkish companies.
Implemented under the IPA-III framework within the Competitive Sectors Program, the project will unite exporter associations from the apparel, textile, chemical, and logistics industries, along with the International Transporters Association (UND). Participating companies will receive extensive support for carbon and water footprint assessment, reduction strategies, and sustainability practices.
