Next 5 Years In Supply Chain Management

According to the "Future of the Supply Chain" report, based on a survey conducted among global supply chain professionals by KPMG, there are six key areas that supply chains should focus on in the future.

In the short term (one or two years), the focus areas include:

Sustainable Supply Chain: Focusing on CSR commitments and meeting stakeholder requirements and legal obligations is important. Accessibility to the supply chain is now critically important.

Advanced Robot Technology and Automation: Supply chains are becoming increasingly automated. Since automation provides a competitive advantage, managers need to invest in this area.

Future Workforce: There is a need for a workforce in which humans and robots work together to create more efficient supply chains.

In the medium term (three to five years), the focus areas can be listed as follows:

Distributed Ledger Technologies and Digital Currency: DLTs and DMs can enhance trust in supply chains. Managers may need to focus on these technologies to ensure traceability and secure trade.

Industry Changes: Changes in different sectors can directly impact supply chains. Adapting to the specific needs of each sector is crucial.

Metaverse: The metaverse can offer new capabilities for supply chain management, including planning, monitoring, maintenance, and the use of digital twins. Managers have shown interest in this area. These six areas represent important factors that supply chain managers should consider when making decisions about future strategies.
