Logistics Management

 Shipping Crisis

Shippers are using spot vehicles instead of annual agreements

Small-scale shipping companies that could not cope with the increasing costs closed their contacts, while the big ones turned to the spotlight instead of annual contracts. Exporters, on the other hand, lost the advantage of fixing shipping costs with an annual contract. Speaking to the DUNYA, International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers Association (UTIKAD) President Ayşem Ulusoy drew attention to the cost increases experienced by road transport companies and said, “Recently, only the increase in fuel costs has come to the fore, but our only problem is not fuel. In addition to the doubling of fuel costs, there are serious increases in all our expense items. In addition to the bridge and highway, tire prices have increased very seriously. Our maintenance-repair and spare parts costs are increasing. There is a very serious increase in our insurance and personnel expenses. It is very difficult for logistics fleets to survive under these conditions," he said.
