THE IMPACT OF THE PANAMA CANAL
The Panama Canal welcomed the 5,000th Neopanamax vessel and proved the impact of the route on global maritime trade.
The COSCO Faith container vessel, sailed through the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean. The vessel has a carrying capacity of 13,345 TEU and it's 366 meters length and 48.2 meters wide.
Of the 5,000 Neopanamax ships that have transited to date, 51% are in the container ship class. Liquefied petroleum gas vessels account for 26%, while liquefied natural gas vessels, a relatively new section of the Panama Canal, make up 10%. The remaining 13% consists of dry and liquid bulk carriers, car ships and passenger ships.
