 US non-farmy employment data


In March, nonfarm payrolls in the United States fell short of estimates. Nonfarm employment was announced at 431 thousand last month, according to the US Department of Labor's "Labor Force Statistics" report. Economists predicted that employment would rise by 490,000 people.


The February nonfarm employment figures were revised from 678 thousand to 750 thousand, and the January figures were amended from 481 thousand to 504 thousand.The number of people employed in the private sector was 426 thousand, which was lower than the market expectation of 480 thousand. The number of people employed in the public sector increased by 5,000. While employment in the manufacturing sector increased by 38 thousand, employment in the construction sector increased by 19 thousand.
