Istanbul Gelisim University will host more than 30 companies and expert chefs, especially Chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya, as the Guest of Honor at the Gastronomy Festival to be held for the first time at IGU Tower Garden on May 15, 2024.
GastroTalks interviews, which will be held with Gastronomy Festival, academia and industry pioneers, will carry the festive atmosphere to the campus with food and beverage offerings accompanied by music in the fairground. IGU, which has the highest number of associate, undergraduate and graduate students in Istanbul with approximately 1300 Gastronomy students, will host the leading companies of the gastronomy world at the festival. In addition to the success stories in the gastronomy sector, the use of artificial intelligence, current investment trend coffee and bakery businesses, innovative technologies, the growth trend of the sector, iconic restaurants and restaurant rankings will be evaluated at the festival.
In the first session of the festival, which will consist of two sessions, Nadir Güllüoğlu from Karaköy Güllüoğlu Baklava, Tahsin Öztiryaki from Öztiryakiler, Osman Sekban from Koza Gıda and Önder Bilen from Ekol Food will tell the success stories of their companies.
Success stories from chefs
In the second session of the festival, successful chefs who will shed light on young people will tell their stories. Chef Muhittin Fidan from Sheraton Istanbul Levent, Chef Arif Madakbaş from Renaissance Polat Istanbul, Chef Gökhan Özcan from Hilton Hotel, Chef Okan Aydemir from Raffles Hotel, Chef Soner Kesgin from Swiss Hotel, Chef Mehmet Faruk Yardımcı from Marriott Marmara Sea Hotel, Chef Şenol Demirtaş from Big Chef, Chef Emre Karakafa from Harmony Green Village will share their experiences in the sector.
At the Gastronomy Festival, which aims to bring together both sectoral and academic experience, students will be able to plan their careers by coming together with the leading chefs and companies of the sector while having fun. Students will be able to find internships and job opportunities that will shape their future by interviewing companies during the festival.

Prof. Dr. Serdar Egeli emphasized the importance that IGU, which stands out with its sustainability studies, attaches to the gastronomy departments and stated that the festival will benefit the students of the institution as well as the young people who want to improve themselves in the field of gastronomy.
