Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Meriç Yazıcı, a faculty member in the Department of International Trade and Business at the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University, has achieved an important international academic success with her latest study examining artificial intelligence and the transformation of working life.

Co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Meriç Yazıcı, Hakki Okan Yeloğlu, and Amitabh Anand, the article titled “Is AI a double-edged sword? Navigating employee concerns in AI as an innovation” has been published in the International Journal of Organizational Analysis, a Scopus Q1 journal with an Impact Factor of 7.6.

The Dual Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Employees

The study examines artificial intelligence as a “double-edged sword” in the context of organizational innovation. It reveals that while AI may create perceptions of increased workload, uncertainty, and resource loss among employees, it can also provide opportunities for learning, development, and access to new work resources.

The theoretical and conceptual study integrates the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model, Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory, and the Sociotechnical Systems Perspective to develop an original conceptual framework. The study’s key theoretical contribution is an integrated model explaining why employees may perceive artificial intelligence as a threat in some circumstances and as an opportunity for growth and development in others.

The study also highlights the importance of transparency, organizational justice, leadership support, digital self-efficacy, and reskilling opportunities in shaping employees’ responses to artificial intelligence.

We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Meriç Yazıcı on this valuable international academic achievement and wish her continued success.
