Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Head of Department of International Trade and Business Assoc. Dr. Gülgün Çiğdem, from the same department, Dr. Instructor Prof. Burcu Savaş Çelik from the Department of Management Information Systems and Res. Assist. Süreyya İmre Bıyıklı attended the 6th International New York Academic Research Congress held in New York on 12-14 November 2022 as a hybrid and presented her empirical studies titled “The Relationship between Women's Labor Participation and Economic Growth: Empirical Evidence from Turkey”.
According to the analysis results of the study presented at the congress, which was held with participation from 23 different countries and at least 55% foreign participants from each field; female labor force participation rate was found to be statistically significant and it was found to have a positive effect on economic growth. A 1% increase in female labor force participation rate increases growth by 0.12%. In addition, they found unidirectional causality running from GDP to female employment rate in the analysis.
