The Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) is the only multilateral partnership that aims to help use trade as a locomotive of growth, sustainable development, and poverty reduction for least-developed countries. EIF, consisting of 51 countries, 24 donors, and 8 partner organizations, states that it is in close contact with governments, development organizations, and civil society.
As one of these countries, Norway committed NOK 20 million in support to the EIF Interim Facility to fill the gap between the end of Phase Two of the EIF and the establishment of a new support mechanism. Norway’s commitment was recently confirmed at a ceremony at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the first installment of NOK 1.2 million was paid.
WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed Norway’s support as the first country to contribute to the EIF Interim Facility, which will keep the EIF functioning until the end of 2024.
