"American Politics and International Law" Seminar
Prof. Dr. Kevin Deegan-Krause and Prof. Dr. Brad R. Roth from Wayne State University in Detroit, U.S., who visited our university as part of the Erasmus KA171 Staff Mobility program, delivered their presentations.
Prof. Dr. Kevin Deegan-Krause and Prof. Dr. Brad R. Roth, faculty members in the Department of Political Science at Wayne State University, visited our university as part of the Erasmus KA171 Staff Mobility program.
Krause and Roth delivered a highly detailed and comprehensive presentation attended by our university’s academic staff, in which they discussed the political landscape of the United States.
Prof. Dr. Kevin Deegan-Krause focused on the principle of accountability, one of the most important elements of a state’s legitimacy. By examining accountability in its vertical, horizontal, and diagonal dimensions, Krause offered the audience a distinctly different perspective. Later in his presentation, he addressed numerous topics, including U.S. foreign policy, authoritarian leadership, and the relationship between digitalization and politics.
Prof. Dr. Brad R. Roth, on the other hand, discussed the general characteristics, operational mechanisms, and applicability of international law. Enriching his presentation with numerous examples from international relations, Roth focused on the meaning of legitimacy and sovereignty. Making frequent references to U.S. foreign policy, Roth approached political science from a legal perspective.
At the conclusion of their presentations, Krause and Roth held a question-and-answer session and answered questions from our university’s faculty members.
