 Assistant Professor Elif Şahin Participated in the Panel Discussion “Global Minds Forum: Learning From Dialogue” Held at Gokkusagı Schools


Assistant Professor Elif Şahin participated in the panel titled “Global Minds Forum: Learning From Dialogue” organized by Bahçelievler Gökkuşağı Koleji IB World School. The panel, attended by academics and students, evaluated global developments in the fields of politics, media, and culture. Dr. Elif Şahin, Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations (English) at Istanbul Gelişim University, addressed topics such as the impact of media and the digital world on young people, their individual development, and career choices during the panel.


Bahçelievler Gökkuşağı Koleji IB World School organized the "Global Minds Forum: Learning From Dialogue" panel, featuring sessions aimed at developing young people's approach to global events. The event, attended by numerous academics and educators, discussed the dynamics of the modern world with students.


Delivering the opening speech, Nur Betül Gayretli, Member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Gelişim University and Gokkusagı Schools, emphasized that they had come together within the scope of a global forum where art, politics, and economics intersect. She stated that they had created a special space for students to grow as individuals who question, research, and take risks, reflecting the International Baccalaureate profile.
 
Highlighting that Gokkusagı Schools have 29 years of established educational experience, Gayretli emphasized that students access to a wide range of resources, events, and opportunities with the support of Istanbul Gelişim University, adding, "Our goal is for each of our students to graduate having reached their highest potential and to be able to create academic and career opportunities with the global educational infrastructure we provide."

Noting that international students come from many regions of the world, especially Europe, Central Asia, America, and Canada, Gayretli said that there are more than 300 students of different nationalities in the structure consisting of 8 campuses, adding, “Thanks to this multicultural structure, our students gain different perspectives, and this contributes significantly to their development.”

Murat Kotan, Director of International Programs at Gökkuşağı Schools, emphasized the importance of raising students who are interested in global issues, can comment on these topics and generate solutions, have well-developed analytical skills, and are capable of critical and investigative thinking.



Assistant Professor Elif Şahin emphasized that the participation of high school students in a multicultural and globally-oriented platform is promising for the future.
Şahin emphasized that such organizations contribute significantly not only to students' professional orientation but also to their personal development, highlighting the positive impact of a multicultural atmosphere on students.

Stating that the events developed a sense of duty and responsibility in students, Şahin said that students also learned the importance of ethical and moral values in this process when choosing a profession. Assistant Professor Elif Şahin also made assessments regarding the media's perception management and the psychosocial effects of the digital world on young people.
