Ibrahim Ömer and Melda Shamli, who are teaching at Universum College in Kosovo as part of the Erasmus KA171 Staff Mobility program, visited our department.
In their presentations, Ömer and Shamli provided an overview of the processes through which North Macedonia and Kosovo achieved independent statehood following their secession from Yugoslavia. The lecturers then discussed the unique constitutional systems of these two states, detailing the challenges they faced on the path from a traditional legal order to modernization.
During the rest of the event, the situation of the Turkish minority in North Macedonia, American influence in Kosovo, these two countries’ relations with the European Union, and their interactions with other countries in the Balkan region were examined.
In the question-and-answer session held at the end of the event, our students actively participated in the program.
