IGU MICRO-CREDENTIAL PROGRAM

1. The Department's Approach to Micro-Credentials
The Department of Psychology contributes to this micro-credential program with four module courses that address human behavior, stress and crisis processes, leadership dynamics, mentoring relationships, and empathy-based social justice within a scientific framework. Our department's approach aims to prepare students who are not only technically competent but also able to remain resilient in times of crisis, demonstrate human-centered leadership, contribute to others' development through mentoring, and act with an inclusive sense of empathy. In this way, the program directly draws on our department's expertise in the field to deliver, on a scientific and applied basis, human-centered competencies that cannot be replaced by machines.

This focus directly overlaps with the Department of Psychology's core areas of expertise. The four courses selected by our department embody this focus concretely: Crisis, Stress Management and Psychological Resilience meets the module's “resilience and adaptive flexibility” outcome, while Industrial and Leadership Psychology meets the “strategic leadership” outcome. Psychoeducational Mentoring Practices meets the “mentoring and coaching” outcome, and Social Justice and Psychosocial Sustainability meets the “emotional intelligence, empathy, and social impact” outcome. Due to this direct overlap, this module has been selected as the one showing the highest alignment with our department's existing academic expertise and offering the most distinctive contribution to students.
