 The Department of Public Relations and Publicity Held the Event Titled "Public Relations from Education to Brand Management"


Organized by the Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Department of Public Relations and Publicity, the event themed "Public Relations from Education to Brand Management" was held online via the Google Meet platform on Tuesday, April 14th. Damla Kahraman Acar, a graduate of the Department of Public Relations and Publicity currently working as an Account Executive at Gravital Communication Consultancy Agency, attended as a speaker at the event, which was organized to support students in their transition from academic education to professional life.


The Importance of Theoretical Knowledge and Technical Skills in the Sector was Emphasized

In her presentation, Acar shared her career journey and the intricacies of brand management with the participants. Touching upon the contributions of the education she received at Istanbul Gelisim University to her professional development and current career, Acar evaluated the expectations of today's communication sector.
Stating that a public relations professional should not be content with theoretical knowledge alone, Acar drew attention to the importance of gaining competence in photography, Photoshop, and similar visual editing tools within the industry. In this context, the critical role of the practical application opportunities and technical infrastructure offered by the university to the students in acquiring these skills was underlined.

An Important Step Combining Theory with Practice: Internships

Drawing on her experiences in the agency world, Acar provided sectoral advice to the students and emphasized the necessity of supporting the theoretical education process with practice. The importance of internships undertaken during student years to concretize acquired academic knowledge and make a prepared entry into the sector was extensively covered.
The event concluded following a Question & Answer session where questions regarding career planning and agency dynamics were answered.
