We Held Our "Meeting for Nature" Event

Our event titled "Meeting for Nature," organized by the Public Relations and Publicity Department of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), was successfully held

Student-Designed Project, Implemented with Volunteers

The event, which we carried out within the scope of the Sustainability and Communication course, under the coordination of Asst. Prof. İlknur Gümüş and with the participation of Res. Asst. Emre Ergen from our department, was designed by our department students Efe Arif Keskin, Dinçer Şenyüzlü, and Batuhan Yıldırım.

Collected Waste Was Recycled

In the event, which adopted the slogan "I Love Green, I Protect My Future," the waste collected by our students from nature was separated according to its type and left at the Sancaktepe Municipality Mobile Waste Collection Center at the end of the day.

The field study, whose main objective was to create a strong environmental awareness in society and especially to increase sustainability awareness among our students, offered our participants the opportunity to directly apply the idea of environmental protection.

In her closing speech at the end of the event, Asst. Prof. İlknur Gümüş emphasized that the aim of this study should not be perceived as merely "collecting garbage," but rather as creating a sustainable consumption mindset.

Within the scope of the project, which aimed to create lasting and sustainable awareness by directly engaging with nature, our students directly contributed to Sustainable Development Goals such as Climate Action, Life on Land, and Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Thanks to the event, our participants had the opportunity to gain practical experience in developing environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
