Message from Head of Department

Dear Students,

In the digital age we live in, we are all witnessing how visual narratives have become more prominent than ever. At the same time, for over a decade, our country has achieved remarkable success in the global market with works produced in the fields of television and cinema. With the impact of international collaborations, the media sector—where new areas of employment are emerging day by day—has a rapidly growing need for qualified human resources capable of producing high-quality content. In light of all these developments, it is clear that the Radio, Television and Cinema Department, one of the oldest disciplines within the field of communication, will continue to remain relevant.

Our Radio, Television and Cinema Department, which began its academic activities under the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences in the 2013–2014 academic year, was accredited by AQAS in 2018 and has set itself the goal of providing you with the most ideal education that meets the requirements of the modern age. Our curriculum, updated during the accreditation process with an approach centered on “Management in Cinema and Television,” offers our graduates educational opportunities that go beyond conventional roles such as director, screenwriter, cinematographer, or editor, enabling them to work in various branches of the media sector.

Thanks to the advantages of being part of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, students can take elective courses from other departments of the faculty in addition to the department’s core courses, thereby benefiting from an interdisciplinary education. Currently, we maintain internal partnerships with the Department of Public Relations and Promotion and the Department of New Media and Communication. You also have the opportunity to pursue a Minor or a Double Major Program (DMP), which allows you to earn a second diploma, as well as to study abroad for 6 or 12 months in Belgium or Portugal through the Erasmus Program, with which we have agreements.
