A Key Event for Tourist Guiding Students: From Göbeklitepe to Karahantepe – The Taş Tepeler Route
Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Tourist Guiding is preparing to host an important academic event focusing on cultural heritage and archaeology-based tourism routes.
Titled “A Mysterious Route in Tourism: From Göbeklitepe to Karahantepe – Taş Tepeler,” the event aims to provide valuable academic and professional insights for students studying tourist guiding. In the field of tourist guiding, it is essential not only to present the physical aspects of destinations but also to convey their historical and cultural contexts accurately and effectively. Sites such as Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe, considered among the oldest known settlements in human history, offer unique depth and authenticity to tourist guiding narratives.
The event will feature Sociologist and Researcher Özden Yüksel Kul as the speaker. Within the scope of the Taş Tepeler project, she will discuss the historical background, archaeological findings, and tourism potential of the region extending from Göbeklitepe to Karahantepe. Such events play a crucial role for tourist guiding students in developing storytelling techniques, enhancing destination knowledge, and gaining awareness of cultural heritage interpretation. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 5, between 12:00 and 15:00 at the K Block Ötüken Conference Hall of Istanbul Gelisim University. All students and academics interested in tourist guiding are invited to attend.
