About the Study:
Since 2009, the “Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık’s Legacy: From the Establishment of the Ottoman Empire to Republican Turkey – International History Research Symposium” has been organized in Yalova to honor the academic legacy of Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık and contribute to historical research on the Ottoman and Republican periods. This year, the symposium was held on July 27–28, 2024, with the support of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). The proceedings of the symposium were published in an international book titled “In Memory of İnalcık and Oğuzoğlu: From the Establishment of the Ottoman Empire to Republican Turkey, From Yalakova to Yalova 2024” and shared with the academic community.
Our faculty member, Dr. Esra SAYIN, contributed to the book with her chapter titled “Yalova Karakilise and Proposals for Adaptive Reuse.” This study was conducted as part of the “Medieval and Turkish-Islamic Period Surface Researches in Yalova Province and Its Districts,” supported by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
