Istanbul Airport is the Europe's Best Air Hub Now

The Airports Council International (ACI) Europe has awarded the title of best airport to Istanbul Airport in Türkiye, recognizing it as the top airport in the category for facilities handling over 40 million passengers. This prestigious accolade was shared with Rome Fiumicino Airport, which had previously won the award last year with the same score, as announced by Istanbul Airport's management on Friday.

Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of Istanbul Airport, expressed the airport's commitment to surpassing guest expectations by focusing on sustainability, accessibility, innovation, and technological advancement. In 2023, Istanbul Airport catered to over 76 million passengers, reflecting an 18% increase compared to the previous year. The airport has ambitious plans to expand its passenger capacity to 120 million by the end of 2025.

ACI Europe highlighted Istanbul Airport's robust growth and impressive operational performance, noting that the airport's dedication to sustainability is integral to its strategy, including the development of a solar power plant to fulfill all its electricity needs. The judges emphasized that the airport's continuous investment in advanced infrastructure, supported by a favorable government, contributes to its success as a globally competitive hub that attracts both passengers and airlines.

In another category, Oslo Airport was recognized as the best airport in Europe for the 25-40 million passengers segment, praised for its strong operational efficiency and punctuality.
