Istanbul Has Broken All-time Record in Tourism

Istanbul hosted a total of 5 million 244 thousand 936 foreign visitors in the first 4 months of 2024, reaching the highest number of tourists of all time. This development once again revealed the city's attractiveness in tourism and its importance in the international arena.

Germany, Russia and Iran were at the top of the list of countries sending the most tourists to Istanbul. The increase in the number of visitors from European countries was particularly striking. Popular tourist spots in the city such as the historical peninsula, Bosphorus tours and Galata Tower attracted great attention.

This record shows that the investments made in the promotion of Istanbul and the strategic policies implemented in the tourism sector yielded successful results. While the authorities expect this momentum to continue in 2025, they announced that new projects will be implemented, especially in the fields of cultural tourism and gastronomy.

It is stated that the city makes a significant contribution to the Turkish economy in terms of tourism revenues.
