According to the latest announcement made by the Istanbul Tourist Guides Chamber (IRO), important details regarding the visiting hours of museums, mosques, and major attractions in Istanbul during Ramadan Bayram have been clarified. These updates are of great significance for the effective planning of tourist guiding activities and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience.
For the tourist guiding profession, holiday periods require careful planning due to increased visitor density and changes in operating hours. As the Department of Tourist Guiding at Istanbul Gelisim University, we emphasize the importance for our guide candidates and tourism professionals to closely follow such updates.
As stated by the Istanbul Tourist Guides Chamber, the Chamber will remain open until 13:00 on Thursday, March 19, and will resume its services on Monday, March 23, 2026, following the holiday.
The key visiting arrangements during Ramadan Bayram are as follows:
Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque): Open to visitors from 14:30 on the first day of the holiday.
Istanbul Archaeological Museums: Open on the eve of the holiday and throughout the Bayram.
Grand Bazaar: Open on the eve of the holiday, closed during the Bayram.
Spice Bazaar: Open on the eve of the holiday, closed during the Bayram.
Topkapı Palace: Open on the first day of the Bayram (Friday, March 20, 2026) between 10:00 and 17:00. Other palaces, pavilions, and museums under the National Palaces Administration will remain closed.

Effective timing and program management are essential components of visitor satisfaction in tourist guiding practices. During special periods such as religious holidays, changes in operating hours directly affect tour planning. Therefore, it is crucial for both guide candidates and professional tourist guides to update their itineraries in line with official announcements.
As the Department of Tourist Guiding at Istanbul Gelisim University, we celebrate the Ramadan Bayram of all our students and industry stakeholders and wish everyone a successful and productive tourism season.
