 Tourism Sector Representatives Hopeful for 2023 Season


The tourist season, which was heavy in the number of tourists, extended until November with the positive weather conditions. While hotels in Antalya, the capital of tourism, enter the winter season with hope, the Antalya Governor's Office stated that the increase in 2022 tourism data continues in Antalya, which is one of the most important tourism centers in the Mediterranean. According to the governor's office, the number of tourists arriving in Antalya by air between January 1 and October 16 exceeded 12 million.


Saying that the 5-star and 3 and 4-star hotels in the second band are full throughout October, and that the reservations continue until the 15th of November, Kemer Touristic Hotel Operators Association (KETOB) President Dinçer Sarıkaya stated that the tourism season is extended until November due to the weather conditions. He also said that they are very hopeful for 2023.
  Stating that the hotels that were supposed to close in October want to stay open until November, KETOB President Sarıkaya stated that an increase of at least 15-20 in prices is foreseen to cover costs and expenses, and that everyone in the sector should take responsibility for meeting costs and expenses. Sarıkaya also noted that travel agencies, tour operators, airline companies and all stakeholders of the industry can handle the costs by acting jointly.
  Saying that despite the war crisis between the main markets of the tourism industry, Russia and Ukraine, the Turkish tourism industry is experiencing a very good period, Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD) President Ülkay Atmaca pointed out that despite the end of the summer season and the mid-October, the occupancy rates in hotels are going well. made statements:
  “Even though it is the end of October, European and Russian markets are doing very well. Our hotels are experiencing high occupancy rates. The winter tourist season is also quite good. We are also hopeful for the winter period. In the winter season, there is a great demand for congress and fair events, especially sports. 2023 contracts have been made and online sales have already started. If we survive the winter well, 2023 seems to be a better year.''
