MICRO-CREDENTIAL

Economics and Finance (English) Department Micro-Competence Module: Twin Transformation and Sustainability

Our department offers a program based on the "Twin Transformation and Sustainability" model, within the framework of micro-qualifications recommended by the Council of Higher Education (YOK).The competencies required in the field of twin transformation and sustainability (financial analysis, strategic planning, risk management, policy literacy) are direct core learning outcomes of an economics and finance education. Graduates of this department are prime candidates to become both the "financier" and the "strategist" of this transformation.

The Twin Transformation and Sustainability Micro-Credential Model is an interdisciplinary field of specialization aimed at managing the global economic shift created by green and digital transformation through financial tools and economic analysis methods. The program aims to develop sustainable business models by equipping students with the competency to structure green financing (ESG, green bonds), model the impact of the carbon economy on corporate balance sheets, and conduct cost-risk analyses of digital-environmental investments.

The Economics and Finance foundation enables turning the sustainability goals of the Twin Transformation (Green and Digital Transformation) from abstract principles into measurable, financeable, and profitable strategies for companies. The primary contributions this discipline provides to students are:
Green Finance and Capital Allocation: Facilitates understanding the structure and market mechanisms of green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and ESG-focused (Environmental, Social, Governance) funds required to implement sustainability projects.
Carbon Economy and Risk Analysis: Provides the capability to calculate the financial burdens that regulations such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and carbon pricing will bring to corporate balance sheets, as well as integrating climate risks into financial models.
ROI Analysis of Digital and Green Investments: Enables performing cost-benefit analyses (ROI) and risk assessments for investments in artificial intelligence, IoT, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies within the scope of the twin transformation.
Financial Implications of Sustainability Reporting: Helps accurately interpret the impact of ESG data—prepared under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and ISSB standards—on a company's market value, credit rating, and investor interest.
Incentive and Grant Management: Ensures that projects are structured in the most financially efficient manner by conducting economic analyses of EU Green Deal frameworks, development bank funds, and government incentives.
