Dr. Bülent İlhan, the assistant professor of Economy&Finance Department participated to “International Conference on Multidiciplinary Sciences" which was held in İstanbul between 15-16 Dec.2018, organized by Istanbul Medipol University and presented the paper with the title of “Is There A Correlation Between Borsa İstanbul Stocks Market Index (BIST100) And GDP Growth?” In this paper, the correlation between BIST100 index and GDP growth is studied starting from late 1990’s since global capital flows accelerated and Borsa İstanbul more ingrated to global financial markets. It’s observed that; although there is not any significant correlation between these two variables in annually periods, GDP growth reflects real increase in BIST100 index in 21 years period totally. Besides, it catches one’s eyes that very-high increasings occured in BIST100 index soon after the years which GDP growth was very low or negative.
