The department of English Language and Literature will hold a discussion on philosophy and art titled "The Metaphysics of Creation", in which the painter Patrick Faure will talk about contemporary art, the nature of being an artist, and the philosophy of creation. The event will be held in Gelişim Tower Auditorium between 11.00-13.00 on March 13, Wednesday.
The synopsis of the discussion is as follows:
"Contemporary art has become confusing because of the proliferation of art that fails to meet the canons of Marcel Duchamp. How do you look at contemporary art in the 21st Century? Patrick Faure provides insight on how to decrypt contemporary art and provides a glimpse into the mind and philosophy of some artists who practice art like Marcel Duchamp would have expected. Patrick Faure will then explain his approach to being an artist, describe his philosophy of creation, and provide an in-depth demonstration of Faurism, a new art style, which he founded. Patrick Faure will use some of his paintings to show how Faurism integrates dreams, sexual desire, mystical phantasms, knowledge, and modern sapiens condition, to conceive works that are causing critics and collectors to re-evaluate their own concept of modern art."
