 A Strong Contribution from IGU to the COP31 Journey at Boğaziçi: Climate Agenda Meets Academia


Istanbul Gelisim University’s (IGU) climate-focused academic vision will be strongly represented at the “COP31 Journey” event, to be hosted by Boğaziçi University on April 17, 2026. Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Başak Özarslan—faculty member of our department and Director of SCTUAM at Istanbul Gelisim University—this significant gathering will take place at Albert Long Hall. The event aims to bring together representatives from academia, the public sector, and the private sector to establish a common ground in line with Türkiye’s climate goals.


COP31 Process and Türkiye’s Climate Policies

During the event, the upcoming COP31 process will be discussed in detail. Türkiye’s climate policies, sustainable development goals, and environmental transformation strategies will be evaluated from an academic perspective. The program will be moderated by our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Başak Özarslan.

Collaborations and Innovative Solutions at the Forefront

Organized by the Sustainable Future Platform, the event will highlight innovative approaches and cross-sector collaborations in tackling the climate crisis. Aiming to foster interdisciplinary interaction and collective intelligence, the event’s water theme sponsorship is undertaken by RC Water & Energy. The organization process is managed by Agriconnect, while Effect Burson and IG İyi Gelecek are among the key partners.
