A guided tour to the Pera Museum was organized by the Department of International Trade and Business Administration.

On May 15, 2024, a guided tour of the Pera Museum was organized by Assoc. Prof. Gülgün Çiğdem, one of the faculty members of the Department of International Trade and Business Administration, with the participation of 5 academic staff and 22 students from 9 different departments.

The trip started with the exhibition "From the Right Place: The History of Panoramic Views of Istanbul" exhibition. Participants had the opportunity to experience a 360-degree historical panorama of Istanbul as seen from the Galata Tower. Then, the exhibition "Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters" selection from the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Orientalist Painting Collection and witnessed the reflection of the diplomatic relations between the Ottoman Empire and Europe in works of art. Colorful moments were experienced with the contribution of Tourism Guidance students to the guide.

This was followed by the "Osman Hamdi Bey" section of the permanent exhibitions in the Museum's Sevgi and Erdoğan Gönül Gallery. Osman Hamdi Bey's famous work "The Tortoise Trainer", which he painted in two different interpretations, was admired in its original version. The students, who had the chance to see the second version of "The Tortoise Trainer" painting during the trip to the İş Bank Painting and Sculpture Museum organized by our department in the past weeks, criticized the differences between the two works. The students also had the chance to see the second version of the painting "Coffee Break: The Adventure of Coffee in Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics" and "The Art of Weights and Measures" exhibitions, which were also created from the collections of the Suna and İnanKıraç Foundation, the participants learned the equivalents of their current weight in different weight units used in history thanks to the scales in the exhibition.

After a very enjoyable Guided Tour of the Pera Museum, students had the opportunity to be together with academicians during a short Istiklal Tour, including street delicacies, and had the opportunity to share various personal problems. The students, who made new friends from different departments through these activities, completed the day in anticipation and excitement for the next trip.
