According to the report "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work" published by the IMF, artificial intelligence is expected to radically change the global economy. It is estimated that this situation, which is likened to a new industrial revolution, could destroy 40 percent of current employment. It is stated that developed economies may be more affected than emerging markets due to the potential of artificial intelligence to affect the jobs of white-collar workers more than the jobs of gig workers. The report also warns that changes in the work ecosystem may further increase income inequality between countries, and underlines that, unlike past waves of automation that affected middle-level wage workers, the layoff risks created by artificial intelligence also include high-wage workers.
