On Friday, December 13, an online factoring training was given by Banu Çorbacı, the Manager of Sümer Factoring, under the moderation of Assist. Prof. Burcu Savaş Çelik, a faculty member of the Department of International Trade and Business.
In the training, first of all, general information about factoring was provided. Accordingly, factoring is an instrument that provides receivables guarantee, receivables follow-up/collection and financing services to all companies that produce and sell goods and services and have legal personality, either separately or together. It is divided into various categories as domestic/international in terms of geography, notified/unnotified in terms of assignment notification and accepted recourse/non-accepted recourse in terms of guarantee. After explaining the operation of factoring companies with examples regarding service provision, various information was also provided to students who aim to have a career in this sector. There is a direct post-graduation job opportunity, especially in factoring companies that operate at the grassroots level. However, it has been stated that it would be beneficial to gain experience in the banking sector for a while in terms of having competencies such as balance sheet and market reading and a certain network.
