The research develops an original index to measure the level of digitalization of SMEs. This index addresses a significant gap in the literature by enabling the analysis of firms’ digitalization levels at both micro and macro scales.
One of the key contributions of the study is that, unlike existing digitalization indices, it offers a structure capable of producing detailed and comparable measurements at both firm and segment levels. In this way, the digital maturity levels of publicly listed SMEs can be assessed more clearly and accurately.
Another important contribution of the index is that, based on the findings obtained, it helps businesses plan their digital transformation strategies more consciously, while also enabling policymakers to design more targeted and effective support mechanisms.
