International Trade and Finance Department members asst. Prof. Emrah Doğan and Res. Asst. Selin Yalçıntaş’s article titled “An Empirical Analysis of Speculative Behavior and the Spillover Effect in Cryptocurrency Markets” has been published in the “Journal of Research in Economics”. In the study, speculative behaviors and spillover effects of seven cryptocurrencies with the highest transaction volume in the cryptocurrency market in the 2018-2021 period were examined. The result of the analysis shows that there are speculative behaviors in the formation of asset prices. On the other hand, evidence is presented that there is a risk of contagion and spillover among cryptocurrencies.
