 How to Prepare the Disaster and Emergency Kit?


In the first 72 hours after the earthquake, a disaster and emergency kit where you will keep your urgent needs and important documents until the aid teams arrive can save your life and your loved ones. It is important that this kit is ready and within reach. Disaster and emergency kit should not only be in your home and workplace but also in your school and classroom.


What Should Be Inside the Disaster and Emergency Kit?
· Food: Foods that contain high calories, vitamins and carbohydrates, prevent water loss and are durable (canned, dried fruits, tahini-molasses, fruit juice, etc.).
· Copies of important documents: Identity cards (identity card, driver's license, etc.), title deed, license documents, compulsory earthquake insurance policy, diplomas, passport, bank card, etc., other (pet health card, etc.)
· Clothes: Underwear, socks, raincoat, climate-appropriate clothing.
· Water: Drinking water should be taken for each family member.
· Hygiene materials: Soap and disinfectants, toothbrush and paste, wet wipes, toilet paper, menstrual pads.
· Other materials: First aid kit, sleeping bag or blanket, pocket knife, whistle, small scissors, paper, pen, radio with battery, flashlight and spare batteries.
