The first export train from Turkey to China carrying 42 container household appliances set out with the ceremony that participated by Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu on December 4. The train departing from Çerkezköy Station will travel 2 continents, 2 seas, 5 countries and 8693 km to Xi'an city of China in 12 days. Thus, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project will shorten transit times 30 days to 12 days between Turkey and China , additionally, with Marmaray project, transit time between the West and China will be reduced to 18 days. The route, which can also be a pillar of the "One Belt One Road" project announced by the Chinese President in 2013, could be an important step to revive the historical Silk Road.
