Logistics Management

Heavy Guns of the Maritime Transportation

The two largest shipping companies in the world, Maersk and MSC, which announced record profitability with the pandemic, invest their earnings from the sea on land. MSC acquires Bollore Africa Logistics, Maersk acquires LF Logistics.

In the maritime transport, where more than 80 percent of the global trade load is transported, the container crisis with the pandemic caused a record increase in freight. The daily earnings of the ships increased by almost 10 times. Shipowner companies achieved historical profitability especially in 2021. In fact, it was the shipowner who made the profit that he could not make in 10 years, in the first six months of this year. The world's two largest shipping companies, Danish Maersk and Switzerland-based MSC, also announced record profitability this year. Both companies accelerated their investments in line with their increasing revenues. On the one hand, these companies, which order 10 new ships, on the other hand, evaluate new investment opportunities. Shipowners also started to invest on land to strengthen their logistics chain network.
