 Stacking in Storage Management

How are products stacked in warehouses?

One of the most important issues that storage management deals with is the correct stacking of products so that they can be stored. Stacking can be done in several different ways and with several different vehicles. Matters that need to be considered while stacking are the structure of the products, the physical condition of the warehouse and shelves, the tools and equipment owned, the way of working, the product order cycles, and the delivery dates.

Since the use of space is very important in storage management, it is beneficial to focus on the stacking plan. Below are some types of stacking used in storage management:

  1. Block Stacking: Loads are stacked on top of each other in blocks on the ground without racks.
  2. Storage in Tank: It is a type of stacking in which fluid and gaseous substances are stored and usually filled from the top and discharged from the bottom.
  3. Shelf Stacking: This frequently used storage form is also divided according to the arrangement of the shelves. Some forms of rack stacking are as follows; wide aisle shelving systems, double-depth shelving systems, back-to-back shelving systems, narrow aisle shelving systems, walk-in shelving systems, sliding pallet racking systems, sliding racking systems, cantilever racking systems, dress-up shelving systems, mobile shelving systems, radio-controlled shuttle , hanging conveyor rack systems, carousel racking systems, automatic storage (AS/RS) racking systems.
