Chair’s Message – Department of Management Information Systems

Dear Students,

The primary objective of the Department of Management Information Systems is to offer a comprehensive undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor's degree. Management Information Systems is a highly recognized and widely preferred academic discipline both in Turkey and worldwide.

Our fundamental strategic goal is to emphasize the importance of data science within the curriculum, particularly analytical sciences related to big data such as data mining, while maintaining a strong foundation in basic sciences.

Our vision is to educate graduates who possess high competence in data informatics and who are capable of guiding information-driven processes across various sectors.

Our mission is to train individuals with strong data intelligence skills who can work effectively in information-related sectors, contribute to the future of industry through scientific and analytical thinking, and develop as confident, open-minded, visionary professionals with transparency, accountability, and innovation capabilities.

In line with this mission, our department offers a high-quality and standardized education and training curriculum. Our students graduate with strong communication skills, a sense of social responsibility, and adaptability to innovation. Graduates of the program are well-prepared to assume managerial positions in leading public and private sector organizations. Additionally, the curriculum is designed to enable students to pursue graduate and doctoral studies should they wish to continue their academic careers.

The establishment of a quality-oriented culture within academic programs depends on the importance given to strategic planning and its complementary components. The primary aim of the undergraduate program is to meet the demand for qualified professionals in the field of Management Information Systems within public and private sectors, in accordance with the requirements of information and network societies.

Due to the broad scope of the discipline, our graduates are expected to possess qualifications beyond those of an ordinary professional. Key competencies that distinguish our graduates include:

  • Ability to work effectively in teams

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Interest in technology, awareness of current developments, and practical knowledge in the field of Management Information Systems

In rapidly evolving information and network societies, there is a growing need for professionals who can manage communication systems aligned with emerging technologies. The technology sector, with its dynamic and expanding structure, requires a well-qualified workforce. In this context, there is a significant demand for well-trained managers who can support international trade and business through strategic and informed decision-making. Turkey’s role in the global economy, its participation in major economic platforms such as the G20, and its increasing integration into globalization further highlight the importance of this field.

The undergraduate program also aims to provide broader employment opportunities for successful students through double major and minor programs. The department maintains close cooperation with the Departments of International Trade, International Relations, and Business Administration within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. In the short term, our goals include organizing joint national and international symposiums and congresses in collaboration with these departments.
