What about our digital carbon footprint?
One of the simple measures we can take in our daily lives to reduce our carbon footprint is to reduce our digital carbon footprint with minor changes in the use of digital media
It is important that we pay more attention to what we can do individually to reduce our carbon footprint, and that we try to minimize the damage we will cause to the environment for the future of the world. Reducing our daily waste, preferring recyclable or biodegradable packaged products, not driving vehicles for locations within walking distance, reducing natural gas consumption, and preferring durable products that can be used for a long time instead of disposable products can be listed among the simple measures to be taken. In addition, an often overlooked method is to reduce the digital carbon footprint.
A huge amount of data is stored in the digital environment. The servers that store this data consume a large amount of energy. Messages kept in your e-mail box, messages, applications on smartphones, all photos, videos, and other records stored in online backup platforms, all sharing on social media platforms, and Google searches increase the carbon footprint. Because storing them means that millions of servers consume large amounts of energy. Therefore, cleaning the unnecessary digital data will contribute to reducing our digital carbon footprint.
