Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), which stood out in six areas last year, has distinguished itself in 10 areas this year through its efforts. IGU ranked first in the “Sustainability” category, particularly for its investments in water-saving per unit of water consumed and energy efficiency. Additionally, it maintained its top position as the university with the highest number of accredited undergraduate programs.
YÖK’s report evaluated 201 universities in Turkey across 64 different indicators. IGU excelled in categories such as energy efficiency investments and water-saving per unit of water consumed. The university also continued to lead as the institution with the most accredited undergraduate programs among both public and private universities, reinforcing its steady progress toward internationalization.
Advancing with the vision of becoming a “Research University,” IGU achieved notable rankings in the 2024 data. It placed 6th in the “Applied Patents, Utility Models, or Designs” category and 13th in the “Field-Weighted Citation Index” category under the “Research, Development, Projects, and Publications” section. In the “Education and Training” section, IGU ranked first for the most accredited undergraduate programs and third in the “E-Resource Count” category.
With a vision of becoming a world-class university, IGU ranked 5th in the “Number of Internationally Employed Doctoral Faculty” category, 9th in the “Number of International Students” category, and 11th in the “Number of Students Participating in Exchange Programs” category, demonstrating remarkable success in internationalization.
Adopting the “Sustainable Development Goals” and prioritizing sustainability efforts, particularly in environmental areas, IGU excelled in the “Sustainability” category in the 2024 report. It ranked first in “Use of Energy Efficiency Investments” and “Water-Saving Investments per Unit of Water Consumed” and placed 8th in the “Per Capita Direct Carbon Footprint” category, highlighting its commitment to the effective use of natural resources.
IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin emphasized the university's success in 10 areas in the “University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report-2024,” underlining its position as the leader in accredited undergraduate programs among both public and private universities.
