Several conflicts all around the world prevent children accessing health care and education because many schools and hospitals are targeted by conflicting parties. Many children are also being recruited and used by some armed groups. Their education opportunities are blocked by conflicts and displacements. Josep Borrell (European Union High Representative) and Virginia Gamba (Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict of United Nations) stated that a sustainable system must be established to protect children from the destructive consequences of wars. They also emphasized the importance of getting children released from armed groups and incorporate them into reintegration programmes.
