Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Political Science and International Relations, İGÜSAM and İGÜPAT organized a conference title das „Political Economy in Turkey and European Turks.
On 5th of April, 2018 Former President of Union of European Turkish Democrats Sadettin KILIÇ and chairman of Turkish-European Foundation for Education and Science Prof.Dr. Faruk ŞEN participated as panelists in our university. In the conference they discussed the Europeans‘ attitude against Turkish people in Europe, advantages and disadvantages of Turkey’s participation to the EU. In his speech, Sadettin KILIÇ declared that Turks are actively engaged with socio-political life in Europe and stressed this engagement by these words: „We Turks live in Europe and we will do politics in Europe.“ Participants also discussed the necessity of the EU, possible outcomes of Turkey’s membership in EU for Turkish people living in Turkey and Europe. As an answer against the question „is becoming European citizen good or bad for us,“ Prof.Dr. Faruk Şen pointed out various aspects regarding political, educational, economic, political and scientific perspectives.
After questions of auidence and discussion, the public conference came to the end with the acknowledgment of our guests.
