Message From Head of Department
Dear Students;
The Political Science and Public Administration department is for students aiming at political and administrative careers. Our department aims to train leaders who will be the decision-makers in world and country politics. In this context, courses related to political science and leadership such as political consciousness, history of political thought, history of political leaders, political behavior and leadership, and courses on administrative science such as public administration, administrative law, third sector management, organizational behavior, and leadership skills are included.
The world is experiencing a rapid process of change in social, political, and economic spheres. The need for new designs of the political and administrative aspects of this changing process, the development of models for these changes, and the need for research are increasing day by day. In the world and Turkey, the need for qualified individuals trained in Political Science and Public Administration is felt more. Our department has adopted an important mission in the development of its students as leaders who will understand the rapid transformation that takes place both at the local and global levels.
Our goal is to be a department prominent with graduates who can analyze political events and management processes, have multi-faceted thinking and decision-making skills, act with professional ethics, and are preferred in public, private, and third-sector organizations. Participation of internal and external stakeholders in departmental decision-making processes is the core of the administration. In addition, the selected student representative is included in the decisions of the department board. In this direction, both Istanbul Gelişim University and our department have established a lot of cooperation with professional experts, universities, and professional associations to contribute to the personal development of the students. Furthermore, our students in the framework of the Erasmus Exchange Program have the opportunity to continue education in 19 European countries, including Germany, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Romania, according to the agreement, learn different cultures and represent their own cultures abroad and implement acquired knowledge into experience together with the students from many countries.
Graduates from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration have the opportunity to pursue a career path in the public sector, private sector, and third sector organizations owing to the knowledge in politics, management science, and law they have acquired.
They may also have the opportunity to raise in decision-making mechanisms of all public institutions, mainly in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and municipalities, multinational corporations, and third sector organizations as well as to make academic career on political education, management, administrative sciences, history, and many other fields through interdisciplinary education.
