 Assoc. Prof. Ekaterine Pirtskhalava from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Delivered a Lecture and Participated in a Roundtable at PSİKOMER


As part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching program, Assoc. Prof. Ekaterine Pirtskhalava from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University visited the Department of Psychology. She joined Dr. Berk Efe Altınal’s “Critical Psychology” course during the week on “racism and critical psychology,” where she delivered an academic presentation. Following the lecture session, a roundtable discussion titled “Working with Marginalized Groups in Qualitative Research” was organized at the Psychology Application and Research Center (PSİKOMER).


Within the scope of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching program, Assoc. Prof. Ekaterine Pirtskhalava (Institute of Social Psychology, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University) was hosted by the Department of Psychology and joined the Critical Psychology course upon the invitation of Dr. Berk Efe Altınal.

During the session titled “racism and critical psychology,” Pirtskhalava met with students and delivered a presentation on her academic work and research areas. This first part of the program was conducted as an in-class academic exchange within the undergraduate course setting.

Following the lecture activity, a separate academic event was held at the Psychology Application and Research Center (PSİKOMER) in the form of a roundtable discussion titled “Working with Marginalized Groups in Qualitative Research.” The discussion brought together faculty members of the Department of Psychology and PSİKOMER researchers, focusing on fieldwork practices, ethical responsibilities, researcher positioning, and methodological approaches in qualitative research with marginalized groups. 

The event hosted by the Department of Psychology and PSİKOMER at Istanbul Gelisim University concluded as a valuable academic gathering that strengthened international academic collaboration and promoted scientific exchange.
