Dr. İshak Sayğılı Delivered his Speech on "ISOLATION, QUARANTINE AND HUMANITY EXPERIENCE" at the Panel on Psychological Effects of Corona Pandemic

Emphasizing that the changing values, communication and relationship styles and the positions of individuals in society are affected in many ways with the pandemic process, the headlines from Dr. İshak Sayğılı's speech are as follows:

The pandemic process has shaken the sense of security all over the world. People are reviewing the ways they relate to nature and re-question what makes us human. Individuals stuck between responsibility and freedom due to the pandemic also seek different ways in the face of this dilemma. While these dilemmas are often addressed by focusing on concrete outcomes (death toll, rate of spread, cost, etc.), knowledge of the spiritual field is often overlooked. Throughout the presentation, the potential guiding potentials of the spiritual field knowledge of the early period of development in this area were emphasized. The ways to be followed in designing the restorative processes against the pandemic, whether in individual or social processes, and even after the pandemic, require thinking on ethical limits. At this stage, we may think that a two-step path is necessary; In the first stage, it is important to reveal an individual sense of conscience in its inner sphere, and the next step should be the creation of collective thinking and speaking spaces. New solution processes to be developed in such a difficult time should be designed with these tensions in mind. For a human who has to develop by taking care for a very long time after birth, caring for the other has penetrated into the deepest layers of his spirituality and is a necessary part of the human experience. Studies in the field of mental health have repeatedly shown that these characteristics, which regress with fear and anxiety, can be revealed again with the treatment of anxiety and solidarity. In this respect, it is very vital to apply the knowledge of this area against the destructive effects caused by the pandemic.
