 What is Exam Anxiety?

The exam is an event that makes many students feel strong emotions and also causes some
psychological pressure. People often experience anxiety and stress before exams and similar
important events. 1,2 An individual taking the exam may experience varying degrees of test
anxiety, from indifference during the exam to a great deal of dread and anxiety. 3,4

We can take the following steps to deal with test anxiety: 5
1. Preparation phase: Breaking down the worksheets can work because you can get anxious
when you are trying to do everything together or can't decide which one to prioritize.
2. Manage your emotions: The questions that will appear in the exam are not under your
control, so you can learn how to manage your emotions so that the anxiety you experience for
some reason doesn’t get out of control and affects your performance.
3. Challenge yourself: Instead of worrying about not performing well, it is a good way to
fight your situation.
4. Relaxation technique: You can use a number of techniques to help you stay calm before
and during the exam, such as deep breathing, relaxing your muscles, or visualizing a positive
result by closing your eyes.
5. Sleep: Take care to get enough sleep because insufficient sleep can increase your anxiety
about the exam.
