 Attention to domestic violence!


Ayşenur Dönmez, a student at the Department of Public Relations and Publicity at Istanbul Gelisim University, drew attention to the violence against women.


Ayşenur Dönmez, a sophomore at the Department of Public Relations and Publicity of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (FEASS) at Istanbul Gelisim University, conducted a poster study to draw attention to domestic violence. Dönmez has tried to raise awareness bringing the issue of domestic violence which is a major problem from the past to the present in Turkey back on the agenda people through her study. She stated that domestic violence is a serious problem in Turkey because it is seen all over the country regardless of region or province and people must make a noise about this issue, and encouraged her friends to design a different poster on this issue.

According to the report of Mor Çatı (Women's Shelter Foundation) for 2017, 63% of the women exposed to violence are subjected to violence by their own husbands. 90% of these women stated that they were exposed to violence from only their own spouses, but on the other hand, 10% of them said that they were exposed to violence not only from their spouses but also from their parents and friends. In addition, according to the report, 6% of women are subjected to violence by their ex-husbands, 3.5% by their partners, 6.5% by their former partners, 10% by their fathers, 11% by someone they even do not know. These data reveal the extensions of violence against women.
