An Academic and Sectoral Encounter in a Digitalizing World
Organized by the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, the event
Marketing Communication Conferences: E-Commerce and Social Media Management brought together students and academics with experienced professionals in the field of digital marketing. The event aimed to explore current strategies in social media and e-commerce while encouraging the exchange of sectoral knowledge.
The first speaker was Ferdi Alma, a graduate of the Faculty of Communication and an alumnus of the Department of Public Relations and Publicity. Alma is a digital marketing specialist and the founder of the E-Commerce Marketing Advertising Agency. He shared his experiences in e-commerce and digital marketing, providing an overview of the historical development of e-commerce. He also interpreted today’s digital communication environment through the concept of "technofeudalism" coined by Greek economist Yanis Varoufakis. In his presentation, he discussed how individuals have become data producers within the social media ecosystem and how this data is commercialized. He concluded by outlining a basic roadmap for designing digital marketing strategies.
The second guest speaker was Nurettin Turgut, an Electrical and Electronics Engineer and a digital media marketing expert with three years of professional experience. Turgut focused on strategies for increasing engagement in social media account management. He also provided information about the efficiency and convenience offered by artificial intelligence tools in this process. Practical suggestions were shared for both individual entrepreneurs and corporate brand management.
At the end of the event, plaques of appreciation were presented to both speakers.
