 "We are all ambassadors of our country abroad."


Nil Akpınar, 4th grade student at the Public Relations and Publicity Department, shared her experiences in Poland with her students in the Erasmus Program.


Nil Akpınar, Istanbul Gelişim University (İGÜ) Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (İİSBF) Public Relations and Publicity Department, transferred her experiences in Poland to the 1st and 2nd grade students in class J Block 310 as part of Erasmus Program. Interview started with our Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp's transfers on the importance of the Erasmus Program.
 
Referring to McLuhan's concept of “Global Village”, Aydınalp emphasized the importance of adapting to this globalism, by stating that the world has become global thanks to the developing communication technologies. Giving various examples from Jean Baudrillard's book "Simulates and Simulation", Aydınalp said that "the reality of human's own vision is the reality he sees with his own eyes"; she stated that rather than seeing through the eyes of mass media such as television, newspaper, magazine, it is the real reality that the person sees it with his own experience. Aydınalp stated that “Participating in the Erasmus Program offers opportunities for people to learn and learn and also helps to take a step forward in the business sector by stating the language.” She added that “The Erasmus Program is beneficial in order to become individuals who improve their intellectual knowledge and follow the world because public relations expertise also requires intercultural communication skills” and transferred the word to our student Nil Akpınar.
 
Akpınar started his speech by saying that he was considering the Erasmus Program for the first time after an interview by our Head of Department, Aydınalp, during his student education. She talked about how his process in Poland went twice under the Erasmus Program. Akpınar, who said that he had difficulty in living alone in a different country in the first days of the process, stated that he loved even those difficulties in the following days and that he got used to Poland, adopted and loved it. The first mention of the family when it returned to Turkey, she said "I'll go back to Poland," she stated.
 
In the second part of the interview, Akpınar informed the students about why he chose Poland for Erasmus, the characteristics of the city he stayed in Poland, the characteristics of Poland's food culture and family structure. In Poland with a population of 38 million; She said that the citizens of the country are warm and they are very sincere to her. Adding that she was impressed by the texture of the Old Town, Akpınar stated that they are loyal to the history and culture of the Poles. She added that family structures are similar to our country and they attach importance to marriage and family institutions.
 
Despite being difficult under student conditions, she traveled to ten different countries including Poland with the advantages of Erasmus Program and said that she has accumulated many beautiful memories and was very happy. Akpınar said, “The beautiful memories and friendships I have accumulated are very important to me and have an unforgettable place in my life. In the later years of my life, I will never forget these memories and friendships, ”and encouraged the students to participate in the Erasmus Program.
 
Akpınar, who also supports the conversation with the visuals by sharing the photographs taken abroad, said that the Erasmus Program applications are still continuing at our university and that the timing of the interview will contribute to our students in this context.
 
In the continuation of the conversation, it was emphasized that each individual represented his country abroad. Aydınalp; "It is necessary to respect and adapt to the rules and culture of the country of destination," she said. Akpınar also said, “We are all ambassadors of our country abroad. When there are any problems there, this is not personally associated with which country we are citizens of. For this reason, we should not forget that we represent our country wherever we go and we should act accordingly. ”
 
In the last part of the interview, Akpınar said, “I know that my friends whom I met thanks to Erasmus Program will support me and support me if I go to their country tomorrow. that in the future the same way I will welcome my friends in Turkey. In this context, Erasmus Program leads to the creation of really good friendships. ” Mentioning that she plans to do her internship abroad again in the future, Akpınar also mentioned the school and internship opportunities that are an alternative to Erasmus. Akpınar, who said about the photographs she has shown in his presentation, “The memories in the background of my photographs are very valuable to me”, once again stated that the Erasmus Program was difficult to see from afar, and that it should be tried, and thanked the students for listening to them and completed her words.
