Kadir Has University Faculty of Law lecturer Dr. Ahmet Ayar was the guest of the event. Ahmet Ayar started his speech by emphasizing the definition of ethics in the event and gave information about the basic concepts of media law and the legal and ethical obligations of the media. Ahmet Ayar emphasized that freedom is limited in the context of protecting and not violating the honor and dignity of people who take part in media content. Stating that every individual under the age of 18 is considered as a child, Ahmet Ayar gave important information about the presentation of children in the media and their legal rights. Emphasizing the importance of acting ethically when sharing written-visual content about children by media organizations or parents, Ahmet Ayar stated that individuals and media organizations have a legal obligation regarding the privacy of children.
Ahmet Ayar emphasized that with the increase in the number and use of social media applications, many crimes are widely committed through social media applications. Reminding that social media users can use their constitutional rights when they are insulted, threatened, exposed to slander, identity information is stolen or a fake account is created on their behalf, Ayar stated that such cases have been seen frequently recently.
Ahmet Ayar also touched on the issue of the media presentation of violence at the event. Stating that the media has a great responsibility in combating violence, Ahmet Ayar reminded that an ethical and careful approach should be exercised in terms of not normalizing violence in the media.
